Some say hammering will shorten the life of your bearings. I don't know the truth to that but it makes sense.
One way to do it is to get one of those gear pullers with 3 arms, take off the rotor & caliper, set up the puller so the shaft sits in the hole in the end of the axle and push the bastard out. Get a big one though, I consistently break those things.

If the car is on jackstands (not on a lift), use a BIG screwdriver and a hammer. The big screwdriver is to be able to reach the inboard driver side CV joint and give you enough room to swing the hammer. That's the only way I've been able to get it off. When I had my car on a lift, a couple good whacks with a dead-blow hammer got it right off, but I had ALOT more room to get a good swing w/ the hammer. Not having enough room is what makes it harder to get off.
Take a screw driver and a hammer and tap it out from under the car or pry it by sticking the screw driver between the tranny and axel and pry it

Yes the driver side inner joint is shaped very ghey IMHO, it's impossible to pry it out like you can on the passenger side. The only way to get it off is to put a large flat-blade screwdriver against the joint, position yourself way over under the passenger side of the car, and then swing a hammer sideways and hit the handle of the screwdriver. That's the only method that has worked for me when the car is on jackstands. Get the front end as high as you can, also, so you have more room to get a good swing on the hammer.
i had the same problem wen i swapped my tranny......i broke three cheap screw drivers......ended up using a fat craftsman and a hammer....wedge screwdriver in between axle and tranny and try to pry it out....it works, may take a while though...goodluck

He's talking about the driver side axle, the one that connects to the center halfshaft. It is not possible to pry the inner CV joint off of the halfshaft because of the retarded shape of the driver side inner joint.

Use your 32mm socket you used on the axle nut. Place it in the space b/w the joint and bearing and hit it with a hammer. Worked like butta.
i used one of those huge chizels when my boy slipped my shock thru my boot heh.. i tried for hours with a normal screw driver, then i tried like one of those huge ice chisels. it looked like a stake that they use to hold like tents up, this thing was huge and solid iron, then u used a heavy hammer... it came out in 2 knocks
