prelude engine code
alright let me start off by saying i'm prelude illiterate. i really don't know **** about them, I perfer the slower 4 bangers like civics
my friend has an late 80's to early 90's prelude, i don't know what year, and he says it has a sohc 12 valve in it? I searched a lot and I can't find any prelude engine to fit that discription. I've read about the b20a3 and a5's in the 90 and 91 ludes, but those are dohc 16 valves.....he also said it's the stock engine, and one more thing even if it has a swap it's not the 70hp civic cx engine (d15b2 or b-whatever it sucks who cares?
) and that's the only engine i can find that fits this discription.
so can anyone provide me with a prelude engine code list or tell me what engine this can be? Thanks for any help
o and the only reason I care is cause he's selling it and i'm interested, but we were working and didn't have any time to talk about it

not offhand, but im sure if you use gogole and look for somethign liek a20a1 or a18a1 etc you can pull some info. i know the best of the A series waas teh a20a3 in teh 87-89 accords with 122hp and fuel injections. if that one has a carb its not got much power though.
You're probably thinking of the 3rd generation Prelude S (1988-1990) with the B20A3 which is a SOHC 3 valve per cylinder engine which obviously makes 12-valves total. It's only got like 104hp and it runs off 2 side-draft carburetors. The car is not fast, it should handle pretty well but definately no straight line racer.

I didn't see that you're considering buying the car....Personally, I would look for a 2.0Si or Si model, and skip the S models. The brakes, engines, and overall power options are substandard and are much better on the 2.0Si and Si models.

Actually they stopped in 1990, you mean the 3rd generation of preludes was 1988-91, but the b20a3 was only 88-90.
