yet another idle problem
this is a good one boys.
on my best friends car (jdmb16a2) we took the intake manifold off to swap it with a new one, turns out the mani is for a gsr, so no fit, so we put everything back to stock and now the car fires up at about 1000 and then rises to 2000, and then slowly continues to rise, this is all on an ice cold motor by the way, now to list the things we've tried so far,
new tb/mani gasket
adjusted tps
rebuilt fitv
adjusted the idle screw
took everythign off twice and rechecked all vaccum lines/connections
swapped map, and iac sensor
swapped iac's
this got us absolutely nowhere. i personally hate the response "just search for it" and alike, so before posting this i spent the past few days doing just that. tried all the suggestions allready there, and it got me nowhere, car drives fine, accpet when in neutral, which kind of impeeds my ability to drive it...
so any other ideas....

Yeah those kind of problems are a bitch... did you have the throttle cable to tight? did you mess with the butterfly in the throttle body or the rotating assembly of throttle body? we did that before and caused a high slow reving idle...
so.. heres the deal, and how we figured out whats wrong..
i took the intake off so its running open throttle body, took a book and put it over the throttle body...
stayed at 2000.
thats odd....
put my hand over it. BARELY any suction...
drove to walmart, got some carb cleaner and started spraying... the intake manifold is perfect... so i moved onto the throttle body... top is good, both sides are good...
now when you spray the bottom, rpms drop suddenly...
<FONT SIZE="10">VIOLA</FONT>
so.. tomorrow, we're taking off the throttle body, checking for old gasket (again) and double checking if its all tight.
now, if thats not it, we'll check if its warped. wish us luck.

Voila? "Viola" in french means you got raped.

Also, in the ice cold, thats not going to be the best performance for your engine, because all your temperature sensors could be reading cold, pumping more gas thru, then confusing the O2 reading, so it could just do that. So that leads me to say if you squirted the bottome of your intake mani and got a neat result, could it be crud on the injectors? Did you take them out yet to inspect?
