B16 Civic Shakes While Driving Normal
a friend of mine has a 89 Civic Hatch, with a JDM b16. the motors been in it for a couple of years. Just recently while driving normally, at about 3500 rpm in 2nd and 3rd gear the whole car starts to shake. I have no idea what wrong with it. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesnt. Under wide open throttle, it seems fine, but then again, with the suspension in the car and the way it is set, you feel every bump in the road, so the bumpiness of the road could over power the shaking? If any one has any idea what this could be, please feel free to let me know. if you need any other info that you think could help to figure this out, ill gladly share.

no it sounds like a tire, alignment, axle or suspension issue as stated by people here.
also check that the bushing on your motor mounts havnt taken a **** on you.
if the tranny was missing teeth youd feel it at any rpm.

same thing happens to me, and its a hesitation, its something to do with the engine not the suspension or the brakes...im still trying to figure it out, maybe bad timing or the ignitor is going in the distributor, because i did a full tune up to mine and i still get it a bit, and i haven't checked timing yet...

I have a b16 in my car and I had the same problem, however it was only under load and at low rpm. I know it's not the shocks It didn't do it before the swap only after and I've got < 1 year old Koni Yellows. This also isn't the first I've heard of this issue. JaymieTypeR, is your friend absolutly sure that the problem is rpm related, does the problem occur in 1st gear as well, does the problem only occur under load or also off throttle?
I wouldn't be quick to run out and start buying replacement parts. It could very well be something a simple as plug wires, or ignition related.
