Engine Troubles, please help
greetings!! well in our 00 civic with CVT and d16 motor, the car is throwing and manufacturing air/fuel metering code when the car runs over 4500 rpm, the car stalls and wont rev past 4500 anymore, ??
code p1259
code p1259
I think it uses knock sensor on the back on the engine near the oil filter to activate vtec. The Vtec sol is on the Transmission side of the head. If your timing is wrong the car will go into safe mode and not rev above 4.5k. Good Luck!!!

No
No
Try to remove the Vtec solenoid and see if the screen on the gasket is clogged. That sometimes happens to engines that havent been taken care of. If its clogged, clean it and reset the ECU.

Oil pressure and a solenoid. Knock just senses detonation. Its more of a safety sensor. If the engine detonates, the ECU will not allow Vtec to activate, thus preventing engine damage. The reason LSs dont have knock sensors is because the compression is so low and cam lift isnt very big so there isnt really a need for it.

This is also untrue.
And the ecu detecting knock does not disable vtec, it merely retards the timing a few degrees until the knock is gone. If it disabled vtec every time it detected a knock, you would be pissed at honda.

BS!!!!!
I know what a Knock sensors soul purpose is for. If a cam gear slips the engine will go in safe mode. If you don't believe me than you have never seen it happen. I work on all the guys cars around here and one day one of them brought me their car and said is not going above 4 to 5k rpms. I noticed first thing that his cam gear had slipped. This was a 1995 LS motor. Lucky bastard did not hit the valves and I put it back at TDC and the car was fine.
Ha, Ha, Ha, you rookies kill me every time.

Stuff changes quickly in your jumble of words huh?
So the cam gear slipped maybe?
What did you do to the 1995 LS to keep the timing belt from slipping again?

Just messin with ya bro!! He only had one bolt out of six left in it. They all vibrated out because he did not torque them properly. I just replaced the bolts and sent him on his way.
I promise the ecu had nothing to do with the car not revving. There's no "cam gear slip sensor", it just goes off what it sees in the distributor sensors. Jumping a tooth often just ***** the timing up enough to where it doesn't make any more power. Did it go "wapwapwap" like a normal revlimiter, or just run out of power?
Lets be careful about who we call rookies, all this vtec talk from a guy with an ls...
