Default My dashboard looks like a Chirstmas tree

I have lights going off and on all over the place(engine light, sports light, seat belt). My speedometer needle is flying around like a witch too. What's the deal? I have a 91 LX with 195,000 miles.

How much does an alternator cost? Is it hard to replace?

Depends on where you get it and how much you know about cars.

I've done all of my alternator changes on all of my hondas. I think I paid $70 for my last one and had to pull the driver's side axle (85 accord ).

pull your alt, bring it in and get that core charge **** outta the way, pick up a belt while youre at it... and even if you have very limited knowledge you can still change your alternator in an afternoon if you dont take a smoke break every 5 minutes.

naw, you don't have to pull your axle!!! Mine came right out the top...ah didn't see the 85 accord!

Check your fuses too (the ones under the hood). My buddy replaced an alternator once only to find out it was a blown fuse and the guy at the store tested it wrong!

And for the love of Pete check your damn codes!!! I don't know how ppl expect us to diagnose this **** when they give us nothing to go off of (took the words right out of your mouth didn't I Riceburner).

i got a rebuilt alternator for like $93 or something plus my old shell (on a 95 lx). if you do it while your car is cooled down, it should take an expert 45 minutes, a novice (me) maybe 2 hours. DO IT WHILE YOUR CAR IS COOL! have the auto parts store run a check for volts and amps before you replace it, if you pull it they can test this.
