Default how high comp?

Hey yall, Im rebuilding my DX. I am doing the whole MPFI conversion, and SI head, and transmission, ECU. and since Im going to have it apart, I might as well rebuild the motor, new pistons, new bearings. what have you. So Im thinking, high compression pistons, and milled/ported head. Its going to be non-vtec for now. I can always do it later, what ever.

So Im currious what you guys would do? Im not going to b, or ZC. cause im getting the head and trans for dirt cheep so.

What parts would you use? what head work, block work? I dont want to go turbo, cause It needs to be reliable as possible.

turbo is very reliable if the motor is done correctly or if the motor can withstand the boost.

Stop peer pressuring him. You sound like you're on the right track. I wouldn't bother raising compression, but if you can get high comp. pistons for the same price, go for it. If all you're doing is raising compression a bit, you won't need any block work done besides honing it of the new rings. I had to put a B2 in my Si and it was just as fast on the top end as the A6. You also might consider getting some better rods and a PM7 or PG7 ECU. That would give you some advantage on your 0-60 times as you could do 60 in 2nd gear. Well, good luck...

Which rods??? Lighter would be better in this situation right??? I plan on bulding the motor in my garage. do as much as the work I can my self. What ill probly do is assemble the motor then bring it to a machine shop to get all the clearences checked. cause I have no idea how to check them. hell, might as well get the whole thing balanced and **** too.

I just meant stronger rods. Usually when you buy aftermarket rods, they are lighter and stronger. They say the only big problems with running high rpm in honda engines usually creates some valve float and is too much for stock honda rods. If you are not going turbo and you are switching to an Si head, you shouldn't have to worry about the valve float. Good luck and happy holidays...

p29 pistons from 89 integra...cost ~$130 including rings from nippon racing.

Depending on setup/headgasket will give you ~11-12:1 which is good on pump gas with a vafc.

Depends what you want to do...raising comrpessoin will yeild good power for not much cost...just make sure you get something to tune...fuel press reg, timing light, vafc.

Let us know what you want i've got a 12.25:1 d16 on pump gas.

How much power are you getting at that CR? I wana use a good ECU. I want to keep it as stock as possible. Meaning not using aftermarket electronics to run, Like a VAFC. but if its needed. I will. Whats ur set up vince???

Well then you wont wanna go my route which is every control possible...

walbro fuel pump
balanced/cleaned injectors from RC eng
MSD
aem fpr
Apexi power FC standalone computer

a VAFC would be needed for reliability on a 12:1 comp setup...

There is A LOT more to my setup than that...basically anything you can think of.

you can get a sohc zc and still use the trans, for like 300 dollarsthen you wont be stuck with a 1.5 and that by itsself will be alot faster then your dx

my opinion is turbo is more reliable then a real high compression motor

I dont belive in that at all, I own a Turbo DSM. theres WAYYYYY to much involved to make a turbo motor actualy run right. anyways. The SOHC ZC sounds like a good idea. what size is the SOHC ZC??? I could just spend 300 on the p29 pistons, and do all new bearings. AND seals.

AgentJam, Are you running Individual Throtal Bodys???? Im thinkin of running them. What do you think?

I'm not, but there is definately some more horsepower to be found with them. My car is daily driven and i just didn't want to have to deal with the difficulty tuning the ITB's for that kind of reliability/power.
