Default bent valves, changing a few things... need opinions

some of you know about my dumbass mistake while on sebring, misshift from 3rd to 2nd, on video the tach is 1mm away from "0" ... here is the damage...

well i just ordered some supertech high compression stainless steel valves. im gonna get a new head gasket, thinking of getting a spoon one since it is cheaper than OEM ( i think ), but with both of these, this will bump my compression from 11.1:1 ( jdm itr motor ) to about 11.8~11.9 ish...

im already running a kenji prog on my p28. we all know kenji runs rich as hell. my question is would it be in my best interest to get a piggyback, ie. vafc. or could i just get a fuel pressure regulator/gauge and just tune it that way.... i would LOVE to go hondata right now ( OT - i love kpro on my friends rsx-s ) but im in college and dont got that much money left.

but wouldnt i want a rich map for a slightyly higher compression motor? or could i just stay with wat i got? check my garage in my sig for other mods

thanks for your input in advance

spoon gasket costs twice as much as OEM. Just buy and OEM gasket and take out the middle layer. Same net effect as Spoon gasket. So many people do it, (including myself) w/o probs.

as far as tuning goes i would atleast do the vafc w/ chipped p28. Fpr is also helpful, but cant tune much with it.

spoon 2 layer gasket will give you around 11.4:1 cr, and 1 layer will give you around 11.7:1 cr. if you're already running a chipped p28, just buy a rom burner for $80, download crome/uberdata and make your own custom map or just download one with similar engine setup. it's your best option if your not afraid of learning. investing in a wideband wouldn't hurt either.

If you're adding compression it wouldn't hurt to run more fuel, better to run rich than lean. I personally would only invest in a vafc if you're gonna have it dyno tuned, unless you have experience on the butt dyno.

If I were you I wouldn't invest in a VAFC/piggyback or any best guess ecu, I'd get hondata

I am not sure what you point is, but I think it is wrong to refer to a VAFC as a "best guess" ecu. If you are tuning without the proper hardware (ie. wide bands and dynos), then you can make a "best guess" ecu out of Hondata or Motec or DFI. Does VAFC offer the control of Hondata? No. Does VAFC provide adequate control for fuel maps on street build? Yes, and that is why it is popular.
