i just recently installed one rear strut and i think i did it right way. I did the same installation with my oem shocks with lowered springs before but i never had this problem. I took the car for a spin and its seem like the strut only absorbs half way then i hear this clanking sound. This shocks are used but the guy i bought them from told me they are in good condition and he has a good vouch thread. Could it be i have to adjust them to a softer setting. I think right now there on a setting 3 or could it be i installed them wrong. As a reminder this is on ej1 with tokico illuminas with same brand lowering springs.

U talking about the brown mushy thing right. No i didnot cut them but i did not have that problem with oem strut and lowering spring. Do u think i put them upside down or do think cutting them will solve the problem. Do i cut the bumpstop from the bottom or from the top/ \. THANKS!
Cut the bumpstop in half, and install the larger half on the strut.
Is the car at the same ride height as before? Is it possible your LCA is hitting your exhaust / swaybar or something?

The rear strut is on the right side so its not hitting the exhaust. Well it does feel like its hitting something hard and it feels like something is loose. the hieght is the same when it was lowered with the oem strut if that helps.

I doubt its the bumpstops
Just recheck everything to be sure its tight and that the springs are seated correctly. If it all checks out then try 1/2-ing the stops
The bolts/nuts should be tightened when the car is on the ground.

Did you remember to take the metal rings off the OEM strut rods and put them on your Tokicos? The rings that sandwich the bushing where the nut holds it to the little cup on the spring perch. It will be obvious if when the car is on the ground, the strut rods pop out and poke holes in your hood.
depending on which springs you bought... H&R tells you not to cut the bumpstop...i have Tokico's with H&R .. never had problem... you might want to change the settings
also make sure your **** is compressed in well...
