INim looking to trade my 94+ (red/amber) taillights for a set of 98+ (all red) tail lights, where my car is all red i'd rather have the red tails, although the 94+ is more of a jdm look, anyone interested give me a shout.

i did a search yesterday and noticed there are people on here that are willing to straight up trade for them. some people just like them better, i would stick with mine if my car wasn't red i can see how ppl like the amber ones better.

you can just spray paint them red i have heard, same thing? anyone try this?

paint never looks as good. if you do it, buy candy apple translucent paint. but the real ones are much better.

and i think a straight up trade is gonna be hard to find. expect to pay 125-150 for those. they are a lot more popular.

yup i sold my 98+ tail lights for $150 shipped and got my 94-97 tail lights free....cause every one hads them..i just ask for it

umm....i used to but don't anymore. i painted some a while back. they looked alright but they don't have the same nice shine as the real ones. they have a little dullness to them.

i have also seen peoples painted after a while start to peel and look ugly.

 

Heres mine. Have them for well over 2 years. Use automotive clearcoat not clearcoat in a can. Using those paint in a can wont last overtime. It will start peeling in 6-9 months.

so you painted them with a paint gun? what paint did you use and how many coats of clear? btw they look great

 

Yeah I had my friend cleared it with a paint gun. As for the candy apple transparent paint I used the one in the can and used the whole can. Don't remember how many coats but I do remember using 2 thick layers of clearcoat over the tails

I did my civic tails. Krylon Stained glass paint number 9020...great stuff, been over three months on mine without clear and it's fine, my friend used an aerosal (can) clear coat and it's been a year, look like new. They look just like 98+ tails if you do light coats maybe three *VERY* light coats they wouldn't look dark at all...they look great.
