I know, I know... It's been asked before... just getting fresh thoughts...
I recently ordered a RHD conversion for my DA, which should be here soon. I know many of you don't really see the point in doing this conversion and think it's stupid and pointless. To tell you the truth, I don't really have a good reason for doing it. I just got my teg like 3 months ago and am in the process of stripping out the engine and interior so that I can completely build it from the ground up. But I figured since the reason I got the car in the first place was to just play around with and make it my little project, why not experiment!? You know, do things most people in my area have either not seen or not personally done, have it stand out a little bit. But basically what I was wondering is if anyone had any experience with doing this conversion themselves? Anything that I should particularly look out for? I don't have the entire front clip, just the vital pieces from an XSI (dash, pedals, firewall, interior harness, steering column, and a few other misc. pieces). One of my main questions is whether or not to replace the entire firewall, or should I mark up the existing one and patch up unnecessary holes? If I do chop out the existing fire wall and replace it with the RHD firewall, will I risk losing any strength within the car's framing? Other than these concerns, I'm not really sure what else to ask other than personal observations and experiences from others. I'm sure I'll come across something eventually, things like this never go as you would like them to. Thanks for the input.
