Default From Nothing to Something! Extreme CRX Make Overs and Recoveries

So here's the deal. My newest CRX waiting for me back home is totally trashed and is really far from ever being a reliable, nice looking, road-going car... So I need motivation.

I want to see every success story where you started with a beater and what you've done with it since! Include pics or it's worthless! Tell us a story if you will or link to a write up you've done previously.

I'll post picture's of my darling (it's not shiney one.... The one with the stickers and mismatched wheels My mom made me give the other one away before I could take everything off of it so I need to start from scratch.) I picked her up for $400.

I'd love to hear everyone elses success stories, like I said I need motivation to make this thing into a road going car that I can drive from my home in Bellevue Washington, to where I now live, Columbus Ohio.

when i buy it for 500$

when i have sold it for 3000$

the thing i have done on it is the 2 quarter, it's was rusted like hell!
front fender sand some small rust, front bumper was broke, engine blown, rear wheel bearing was dead!

put some rear disk brake from integra, use a new d16y7 running mpfi intake, new paint, new wheel! and someone came to my house one day and offort me 3000$ for it... i have let's him go! it's was a 89 DX VGA without any modification... then i bough a 91 SI one in pretty good shape, i miss my white one

Yeah they were supposed to be that way. Identicle setups including engine and turbo. The only thing that was really different between the two were the wheels and interior. The motor / turbo setups were clones. They are actually two different colors, mine is Cyan to Purple and his is Red to Blue.

some impressive transformations here. here's mine:

here it is the day i picked it up for $1100. 89 Si, shitty repaint, body damage, mostly stock:

then this (after swap, before paint):

and a year and a half later: new everything, 'cept i still need to put on a new hood and some trim peices.

and I hope you enjoy columbus... I lived there for 3 years till I got shipped to nebraska, it's a great town.

Ha everyone waits for ever to put that last door molding piece on. I didn't post some of the pics of my car because they were all missing that piece. I think I even posted one where it was still missing. Put on the door gasket FIRST, then glue that puppy back in there.

Forgive my blunt ignorance... but what is the use of having 2 virtually identical crxes?
If they were white or black you could color match them with your outfit.
I don't get it. Especially since they have the same motor too.

We just did it for fun, we both had CRXs, and both had about the same amount of money to work with. We were also both in the same painting class. It was fun taking them out together and they were real eye catchers at shows.

Ooo I love my thread and how it's coming.
This is really helping with the motivation. Any of you guys have any ideas on how much you spent over the course of your projects... Either way keep em coming! The more high resolution pics the better.

i have higher-res pics on my website: http://homepage.mac.com/rexerin/PhotoAlbum1.html

As for money... let's see...

$400 for the car
$550 for front end parts (bumper, JDM fenders, headlights, JDM Si hood, corner lights, bumper lights, sidemarkers)
$500 for initial body work (pulling the frame back to normal)
$1600 for body shop round 2 - paint and dent fixing

and a good bit on misc OEM and JDM parts! all new moldings from honda, JDM Front seats, JDM rear seat, JDM door panels, the list goes on.... i have a spreadsheet at home of everything, but its not up-to-date

This thread makes me happy. I wish I had awesome paint like these cars, then I'd have something to show. For now it's 91 Si stock to B18C5 with all kinds of track goodies, suspension, brakes, etc. More go than show, I'm afraid.
