Lost to an explorer?
I have a 1997 civic hatchback with a b16a, with full intake, and full exhaust, 5 speed. Anyways today I was driving back from work to my house and I decided to take the highway, I pulled into the left lane when I got on, and just was cruising along at about 70, when an explorer pulled up next to me in the right lane (it was a 3 lane highway) the kid in the explorer just sat there varying speed between 65-80 mph, so I figured I could take him, it being an explorer, so I downshifted into third gear to try to get the most I could out of my torque to completely dust him, as soon as I shifted into 4th I heard his transmission kick down so I could tell he was going to try to run me, I was at about 90 in 4th gear when all of a sudden the explorer just pulled me with ease, he must have been going 105-110 at least, I finished off fourth and went into fifth but by the time that shift happened he was already at 120, and I couldn't catch up. Long story I know but I was just wondering what I could add to my car where I wouldn't lose to an explorer, I looked up the most similar model I could find and saw that it makes roughly 200-220 hp, and 255 ft lb, and it weighs about 4200 lb curb. Just wondering what little things I can do here and there to help that not happen again, thanks a lot.
Basically, he 'PWNT' your b16. It happens, remember, it was from a roll. Of course you'd spank him from a dead stop. But yeah, I could see something like this happening since I got took from 80-100 by a Nissan Armada SE.

Well actually I did try to run another maybe year older explorer from a red light, I had a roll of about 10 mph and he was stopped and we both had friends in the car, and I had him up until about 30 I was just about to pull him but it was strange because his entire first gear went up until 60, and by the time he shifted into second it was over, he pulled me after 30-35. The civic isn't really meant for racing are they, I am beginning to doubt the motor in it, it is light, but I mean I have taken a geo metro, and a 4 cylinder volkswagen jetta and that's it, it just doesn't make enough power.
