calling everying that has a z10 block girdle. are the dowel really nessary???

z 10 says that no modificaltion is nessary for this girdle
but stock there are dowels
did you guys just bolt the girdle on or did you machine the girdle and the main caps to accept the dowels and are the dowels really nessary

dowels on the mains? I've heard it just bolts on without any machine work,ect. You could have your machine shop check it when they hone your cylinders, ect if you want, but I doubt it's necessary. Just for *****, my stock itr girdle fit on my ls block with no machine work. Good luck, I've heard its a good product. Golden eagle makes one too.

a stock girdle is not supose to fit on a ls block because it hits the middle main caps

my itr mains fit as well. I know they ls middle main is different. They didn't think it would work, but before machining the girdle to fit the ls mains, they figured they would at least give it a shot. By some stroke of luck it fine near perfect and well within spec.
