Default B16 ECU

I just recently bought a b16 Crx, the check engine light has been on since i bought the car. i pulled back the carpet under the passenger seat and saw 2 long flashes and 3 short ones. Is this the same thing as shorting out a wire and seeing how many times the check engine light blinks? Also does anybody know what that code means and how to slove it?

The 2 long flashes mean 20. (long flasshes represent 10) The 3 short flashes mean 3. (short flashes represent one) So the code you are throwing is a code 23 witch is a knock sensor code. On OBD1 and up the engine light flashes, OBD0 what you have flashes the light on the ECU.

I thought if the ECU was throwing this code the ECU would go into limp mode? Is Vtec engauging? Anyways, check the sensor, see if its plugged in. Its located on the back of the block above the oil filter I believe.

Also, the people who did the motor swap before you got it might not of hooked the wiring up to the ECU, might check that if the sensor is plugged in.

Hybridgarage.com might have a pinout to refer to.

Hope this helps dude.

Look under "Engine Swap Information", then "Engine Wiring" and ECU pinouts.

Should be there.

The knock sensor detects detonation and retards the timing.
Listen to your exhaust, you'll know when vtec is not working
