SR20DET VS B18C5
Screw them both and get an RB if you have a beater. I wouldn't put a non US production engine in a daily driver. PArts for sr and rbs are a bitch to get fast.
Thats why I still own a B16 CRX daily driver.
If I had to chosse between the 2 and its going into your daily driver then go for the B18c5...

This question really doesn't make any sense, because with any given car you really wouldn't have to decide between these two motors. Each one has different purposes, strengths and weaknesses. But honestly I don't think it matters, because I dont think you're going to go for either.
I'm getting my C5 for the CRX, and I'd really like an SR for the Corolla, but it's too much damn money.

We'll keep things simple and say that the SR20 is better for drifting, and the B18C5 is better for road racing, but only because of the types of cars they go in.
Seriously, it's not a choice you'll ever have to make directly.
Pros of the SR20: overbuild as hell, factory turbo, torque
Cons of the SR20: parts a little harder to find, $$$
Pros of the B18C: Also overbuilt, 2nd best sound evar (ferrari wins), plenty of parts
Cons of the B18C: Not so much in the torque department, front drive only for normal people
They are 2 of the best motors made, but to try to compare them is impractial. No one has ever said "I wonder which motor we should use for this car, an SR20 or a B18C..."

I will point out that rednecks (aka mullets) have been "drifting" for years. 240sx were not the first RWD cars ever made.
But fast is fast, fun is fun, regardless of how you do it.

how can you actually compare an N/A honda motor against a Turbocharged Nissan motor..
no let me restate that
Why are you trying to compare a honda motor vs a nissan motor

Simple upgrades to the SR20DET will yield big HP gains in contrast to upgrading an ITR engine.

I actually have more experience with the SR over the USDM C5
Now just plan b series motors is a whole other story
All in All... RB pwnz you
And this is a stupid discussion since they don’t even go in the same car, and one is transversely mounted for possible RWD

there are transversely mounted SR20DET's avalible (i.e. the RNN14). There have been FWD Primera's done with SR20DET's.
but yeah, its a stupid comparison

i think it depends on what you wanna do with it. if you just want to know what's better for street or freeway. Street the b18c5 would take the SR for short distance long distance the sr20 would be better ie freeway racing.
That's just my opinion.

So would you put one in a honda? Of course not. To ask which motor you would use is a little silly on a honda forum. To even try to determine which motor is "better" is a waste of time, as each has a different purpose.
