HOW DO YOU remove TAR in the trunk and under the rear seats?
I was wondering how I would go about removing the tar that is located in the spare tire area and under the rear seats? I want to gut my rear but that nasty tar is killing me! HELP!
i used some dry ice, and a hammer. place the dry ice on it for a couple seconds then hit it gently with a hammer and it came up. I learned that by searching on honda-tech
Search the archives of the RoadRace/Autocross forum for the word sound. There are quite a few threads discussing it.
Basically, the easiest thing to do is cool it with some dry ice then it will break right off.

WOW quick replies! I love it! When I use the dry ice... and i scrape it off what would i expect to find under the tar? is it going to be nice and clean like the rest of the body?

it is going to be unpainted, sort of a primer color, but better then having tar there

after you pull up the big chunks you can use a solvent like acetone to get rid of the nasty sticky residue. just make sure you're in a well ventilated area
also note that you might strip up paint with the acetone thus calling for the surface to be primered. i primered/painted my hatch shortly afterwards so i was alright.

yeah, this is pretty good info. Just get some dry ice and place it over the area, then I took a long chisel kind of thing(big flat head screwdriver) and tapped it with a hammer....came right up...finished it in like 30 mins.
