Default rear seat removal

Alright to start my car is 98 ex, i havent seen it since septmeber, its in storage about 100 miles away, ive been thinking about removing the rear seats and the trunk is gutted already.

My question is, how hard is it to remove the seats, i dont see it being real difficult, but i cant remember, do you have to take the side panels off or anything?

thank you

*I have an EG, and I'm assuming it's similiar

Rear seats shouldnt take you more than 10 mins or so to remove. Really simple. But what's the point? You don't save much weight at all, and you lose space for people to sit. You never know when you might need those rear seats.

there is one bolt in the back middle of the seat push the padding down and look between the back and bottom you should see it. after that you just pull it up and out.

Well, the front seats weigh ALOT more than the back "seats". The back seats are pretty much two cushions with a little bit of a metal frame. The front seats weigh about 25 lbs each I believe.

how much do the del sol seats weigh each and the s2000 seats? Good to compare. And roughly how much does an aftermarket seat weigh?

Depends on the seat, but I'd say anywhere from about 12lbs - 25lbs.

whats funny is..that 5-8lbs MAX weight gain could easily be achieved if you just ran your fat *** for 20 minutes everyday for a week..then you could be in shape..and keep seats for friends..because attractive people get more friends..thus it works out

yet if you remain fat..your ugly..and i guess you dont need your rear seats..

so in turn..the question really is

Poor Social Life+Weight Reduction....1 pro..1 con

vs.

Healthy Social Life+Healthy Body+Weight Reduction...3 pros...0 cons

hardly rocket science

The rear seats are extremely easy and self explanatory to take out. But I really don't see the point in removing them...... seriously, go weigh them and see what you save. I guarantee you won't be ANY faster. You're better off practicing your driving skills....

But if your racing, why not? I hate giving people rides anyway...

on all of you.

Why is everyone criticizing him for wanting to "gut" his interior? If you think it's so stupid, you hotshots should go to the Drag forum, or the A/C forum and tell all racers your philosophy on how stupid we are for gutting our cars.

Do any of you guys know if this is his only car? Maybe it's his track-only car? Maybe he has plans to put in a 6pt. roll cage? Maybe he has like ten other daily drivers which he can use to "pick up friends" unlike some people who live paycheck to paycheck, so they could have one show car stunna, and live with their parents.

Bunch of dumbasses. True, removing the rear seats isn't going to do very much or nothing at all for lap times, but neither is a $300 intake by itself, or $400 catback exhaust by itself.

Modifications don't do very much alone, but when combined with this, and that, and this, it can amount to something worth while. Same goes for weight-saving.
