Mugen has a header for the accord? I did not know they even bothered with the F23. I am doubtful you have what you think. well, I have been wrong before.

ANyway, you will need a breaker bar possibly to separate the exhaust from the manifold. You will need a torque wrench to put on the new one to spec. a can of liquid wrench applied daily for about a week before the install will make the rusted bolts a snap and you will not need to torch them.

They're off ebay so it could be something else. They were listed as Mugen but I checked the Kingsports site and there were not 98 accord headers.

I just hope they're decent and they fit.

This is the photo. I can only hope they are just decent chrome headers whoever manufactured them.

 

what a waste of money.

1. Those are NOT mugen headers as mugen does not bother with the f23 application.
2. Adding an aftermarket header to your f23 will not net gains to justify purchase expense.
3. The stock EX manifold flows extremely well so i would consider throwing your money in the suspension pit if i were you.

1. Well my flex pipe is going anyway so it's not neccesarily a waste of money.
2. The fact that it's manufactured by 'Mugen' is not as important as the original question.
3. I am obviously new to tuning and thanks for your advice on where to put my money ($100) but we are talking about installing headers.

crappy headers are known to poorly seal and who knows what other problems might come of a cheapo. Can you back out of the auction?

Actually Mugen's working with eBay to get rid of these knockoffs. Look for any description as 'mugen style'. IF there isnt one, inform the seller that you would like your bid retracted under false circumstances. If they refuse, contact SafeHarbor or whatnot and tell them that it's a fake product and you refuse to pay for it.

Just get a new flexpipe. They're not hard to get (www.kteller.com) and if you want to replace the whole thing you can just replace the bottom section with OEM parts.

 

yeah, that's fake stuff.

just make sure you get a new metal gasket(the one that sandwich between your engine to header) from honda(if the one that came with the car's in bad shape) because the foil crap that came with those taiwanese special will leak.

use liquid gasket for the other end, it's the orange stuff in a tube you can find in autozone, kragen, etc

don't overtorque the stud, they are fairly weak

you dont need an air tool, unless you live near the bay area and got all the salt to your bolt.

eBay is full of fakes, i have gotten used to weeding out all the bullshit. to be on the safe side just stay away.

 

They are already on the way. As long as they are good chrome headers I will install them. A friend of mine who is very experienced will probably tell me not to bother if they are ****.

the ex manifold flows quite well for it's intended application. It was just well made.

i bet just because something says MUGEN on it you eyes light up and you soil yourself ......dynoing it isnt what were talking about, everyone knows header will give limited power gains to an otherwise stock engine....were saying the Quality of these things makes DC look like theyre handmade by rolls royce

 

I just recieved the set and they look well made. I got a nice Mugen sticker with them too... whatever fake or not they look pretty diesel!

I heard comptech's headers are real good. but a bit expensive.. 1200 or so? Ive got a 98 EX-V6 stock everything. Its either the comptechs or DC's for me and DC's are like 400. Which would be a better idea?

 

Well on a TL, which is the same engine as the AV6, the Comptech freed up somehting like 20 horses, which is incredible. You get what you pay for...
