Default ZC problem, a little help...

Hey guys, I am new here. I post at a few other sites. I have been told some good stuff about this site, and looked here a bit, but never signed up. Anyway, finally did..

I got my ZC in my car about 3 weeks ago, 90 Honda CRX DX, with SI ECU. It threw 4 codes at first, 4, 6, 9, and 13. But I got 3 of the 4 fixed. Now I throw code 4, Crankshaft Position Sensor. I have been told this is in the distributor, and I have been told this is in the head. I am not really sure where it is, or who is right. A few people I talk to say I need a new distributor. Now all the DX/ZC wiring is done, and its right. My car bogs when reved, and when it idles, it idles at around 1100. The timing is perfectly lined up, on the cam side. A lot of people I talk to say its the dizzy. What would you all suggest it is? Distributor? Thanks guys.

Default I found the damn problem, i think...

I went in the car, and checked all the wiring. Its all right, BUT...

My Pin B15(or B10) on whatever manual you look at, wasnt all the way in. The one pin you need to add, and what odds, that pin is for the Crankshaft Position Sensor. Now I have been ******* with this god damn pin for the better part of an hour, and am having no luck adding a new pin in there to attatch the wires. Anyone have any tips for doing this? I have some cheap *** needle nose pliers and I am trying to fumble this thing in with. I have an extra 2 harnesses from the junkyard I ripped out with extra pins. So does anyone have any hints on how to add these in? Hopefully I will get some patience today and be able to get it in. God damn cold outside, hands are sore(from pulling it too much).

right on!! i know i can help on this one. hehehhehehe....it happened to me. thanks to BLOWN90HATCH honda-tech, SergONE from hybrid and all the people that helped me from honda-tech.com

So does anyone have any hints on how to add these in?

FIRST OF ALL MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A NICE PIN THAT YOU GRAFTED FROM THE HARNESS CONNECTOR FROM THE JUNKYARD. WHEN PUTTING THAT PIN IN....MAKE SURE ITS FACING THE RIGHT DIRECTION . YOU'LL KNOW IF YOU PUT THAT PIN IN RIGHT WHEN YOU HEAR THE SNAP SOUND. IF YOU HEAR IT THAT MEANS ITS IN PLACE AND ENGAGED. SORRY I DONT HAVE ANY PICS... TO HELP YOU OUT ON THIS BUT I KNOW FOR SURE YOU'LL BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND WHAT I JUST SAID.

GOD damn. <<<<<PLEASE DO NOT USE THOSE WORDS. IM NOT RELIGIOUS OR ANYTHING...I WAS THOUGHT IN CHURCH THAT WHEN USING THOSE WORDS YOUR PUTTING SOME BLAMES ON GOD. THANKS. HAPPY NEW YEAR AND GOOD LUCK WITH YOU CAR.

So what did you do? How did you get yours in, like by pushing it in with pliers, or what? I am probably gonna take it up to the shop if I dont get it in by tomorrow. My dad said it'd be a good idea, and have them run diagnosis test on it, and make sure there are no major problems with anything we have done, or what not. We got to fix this exhaust leak thats in there somewhere, think from the manifold to downpipe, but i am not sure..

no need to use pliers to putting the pin in. just make sure the 2 white plastic clear is out the one that supports the wire pins in from popping out. put the pin in facing the right direction. once in place you should hear a snap sound. Good luck and let us know how it goes

What white plastic thing are you referring too? Are you talking about the thing on the harness that is white, and there is one on top and bottom? If so, do you have to pull that thing out, and then put the pin in the harness? Let me know, thanks.

yes, you have to pull off the white guard/protecter thingy when putting the pins in. but you only have to take off the side that you're working on (there are two, one on top, one on bottom. the top one keeps the pins in the top row from coming out, and the bottom for the bottom row). i used some needlenose pliers to put it in, and like was said before, you will hear it pop in. Also make sure that you orient the pin correctly, meaning that the pin is shaped to go in in a certain position. You can just look at the others to see which way it goes. Off the top of my head (I have a shitty memory), i think that there are two little "prongs" that stick out from the otherwise square-shaped pin. I think those point towards the outside (since there are 2 rows of pins, the "prongs" point away from each other).

Like I said, that's off the top of my head... but you should be able to just look at the others and compare. Goodluck!!

ok bud. here's the situation that you are encountering "when I push one side in, it gets crooked"<<<YOU HAVE TO GET TO THE OTHER SIDE AND POP IT OUT. IF THE OTHER SIDE IS UP..MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO SUPPORT IT TO STAY THERE THEN POP THE OTHER SIDE.

ANOTHER YOU HAVE MENTIONED IS...".And lastly if that thing comes out, all those damn pins arent coming out are they?" NO THEY ARE NOT COMING OUT BECAUSE IT IS ENGAGED AND SNAP IN THERE...UNLESS YOU WERE PULLING IT BY ANY CHANCES. GOOD LUCK.

IM ME IF YOU HAVE ANY MORE QUESTIONS.

I am a little slow, yes i know, lol, that rhymed. ANyway, I got it in there and the car is running fine no problems at all, no bogging. I just drove it with the ZC for the first damn time, and its ******* quick. My tires are low on air though, so I didnt want to step on, and I have no insurance so I didnt definitely want to step on it. Though I did, lol, and when it reved so quickly, it was like an orgasm. Well hopefully I will get insurance on it tomororw, then up to the god damn muffler shop to get a catback made. I am so pumped. lol Its sweet. Gonna go put some little tidly winks together in the car. Thanks for the help guys.
