Default Has any one tried this yet.....

I know the pro's do this but has any of you do it your selfers' tried to run an in-line set up in your cars? I know it would be worth it since the torq multiplication is great. Same hp more torq loads of fun. Plus i don't mind choppin up the inside and floor pans of the car to make room for driveline clearances i'll just replace with home made replacements. Input appreciated.

He means inline as in like the S2k..inline like rear wheel drive where the motor sits stright back and running a drive line. And no kid not that i know of and trust me it would be so much work and so much money its not worth it unless its off road only. Theres a guy that runs around here in a 94 civic hatch with a single BIG turbo Rx7 rotary and he has done it but cut the bottom of the car out and U shaped some sheet metal for a driveline cover. I mean its fast as **** but still not worth it. Never ever be legal and just to risky..

My buddy has a Tsi and he raced this guy(this is how we met him). Well atleast my buddy started to race but the other guy didnt(names carlo rx7 civic) and he got up to about 80 and here comes civic WHHAHAHAHAH smoking the tires with 18's doing about a 100mph burn out. I mean u figure he gutted the whole car anyway it prolly weighed in at 1900 the with that motor? hell no..anyway not worth it dont worry about it

1. In-line what?

2. If there is an increase of torque at any given RPM, horsepower will also increase. Horsepower = ( torque * RPM ) / 5252.

3. Torque multiplication is done through gearing.

Like an inline 6 from the old celicas. I don't know dude. If you are looking fro straight Hp and lb-ft then go for it. But your credibility will drop just as fast as your bank account. I wouldn't do it. Stick with honda dn Acura motors. Unless you think you can squeeze a Chevy big/small block in the back firewall it off and then just run 7's all day....then you are just crazy like me or like this guy....

Sorry bud, but your english sucks horribly. To have this type of dream conversation about how do I do this and that well better typing skills would be appreciated. After reading this thread I still do not know exactly what you are asking and everything.

F20 &lt; is the s2000 motor

89 ex &lt; what kind of car?<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by CRX_Control &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">i had in-line skates once, i fell and never used them agian </TD></TR></TABLE>
I grew out of mine

Sorrt to jump on ya there buddy, but more understandable english would help you greatly. Especially if you really did end up doing this.

I'm pretty sure that is what he means, much like the vehicles the use for tractor pulls that have multiple engines placed in a series.

This is not possible at all and very pointless. One built engine has enough trouble putting power to the ground, there is no need for two of them.

I do agree with you guys his explanation really does suck.

Umm, that's not "in-line." Inline describes the shape of the engine's cylinder banks.

The engine and drivetrain we already have is "in-line." An inline four-cylinder in a transverse front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout.

What you're talking about is a longitudinal front engine, rear-wheel-drive layout.

Technical terms own you all.

Ask the guys who did the S2000 drivetrain swap into an EH3 how they like their 14-second car.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">i have the rear end out of an 89ex awd</TD></TR></TABLE>
An '89 EX AWD, eh?

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">with the u-joints of that drive shaft and an s2k tranny any good trans shop can make me drive shaft.</TD></TR></TABLE>
The RealTime 4WD system is a little more complicated than your average front-engine, RWD drivetrain . . . good luck with that. It'd be easier to do a hybrid 4WD drivetrain from CR-V and Civic Wagon RT4WD parts - like we have a thread on about twice every week or so.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">a friend of mine has a milling machine so mounts wont to take to long to make</TD></TR></TABLE>
Have fun then. Post pics when you finish.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">just need a motor to fit the trans s2k's are b-series right?</TD></TR></TABLE>
No.

It's an F20C1/F22C1. Except it spins clockwise - where every other Honda engine (except the C, J, and K series) spins counterclockwise.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">yo that rex is sick you know who owns it?</TD></TR></TABLE>
That would be the ubiquitous CR-NS-X of Mahdavi Motorsports.

if he wants to put two engines in own car that can be done. i saw an audi tt with two twin turbo engines with about 420hp each. it holds a world speed record in something or another. fastest time to a speed or something like that.

i think you could leave the front engine alone and put a new system in the back and sync up the trannys. i saw a little car on 5th gear that had two engines and they had two trannys and it was pretty fast.

i think that can be done.

if he wants an awd car thats been done. see ht's old awd type-r project that was sadly discontinued due to time limits. they coverd a bit on the rtawd system, making it full time awd and rwd.

i think ht also did something on a mid engine car as well. i didnt read it back then though so i dont know about it.
