help!: high idle at 3k

Default help!: high idle at 3k

i just got my motor started today and it idles very high at 3k. it will not even drop after the car has warmed up. no vacuum leaks. is there a difference between the an obd1 and obd2 b series throttle bodies??? i have an obd1 throttle body on my type r motor. can this be the problem???

check throttle cable tension. to make sure that throttle is not the problem then try to start the car with out the throttle cable. the idle should drop.

did you reuse the TB gasket??? you sure there are no leaks anywhere?

did you replace the tps? check the tps voltage at idle and wot.

ok ill check that 2moro, is there a difference in the voltage between an obd1 throttle body and obd2?

no. at idle it should be at .45v and 4.5v - 5v at wot. as for the fitv= fast idle thermo valve, it located under the throttle body. there is a post on how to on it.

its your fast idle valve...its common and happens to most....just out of curiosity,how do u know you iacv is fine?looked at it?

If you've looked at both FITV & IACV and it checks out fine...check to see if you have a cracked IM.

Might wanna take a look at the injector seals. My DX did the exact same thing due to a cracked injector seal, changed it out and idle's fine...

1) The Fast Idle valve isn't causing this.

2) There is not a difference in ODB1 and 2 throttlebodies. (aside from the fact that some years have a FITV and others don't.

- I would verify that you've got the harness plugged in right. A common mistake is to switch the MAP and TB plugs.

- also, try unplugging the IACV and see if the idle drops.
