Default removing oxidation

Is there any way to remove oxidation from the clear coat or paint? The white splotch near my roof is growing and it looks plain nasty on a black car. I tried Meguiars paint cleaner and some wax and didn't have much results. Would wet sanding help? Or would wet sanding totally eliminate my clear coat and it wouldn't shine anymore? I've heard turtle wax makes a heavy duty rubbing compound but I'm hesitant on using it. Anyone got experience with this? Even before and after pics?

Sanding and some polish may improve how it looks, but it will still be dull as hell, and may and probably will look worse.. Theres really no way to correct it once it's reached the point where the clear coat has started to peel away aside from respraying the area.

If the rest of your paint is good maybe try getting the roof resprayed, but usually when this is the case the rest of the paint is pretty tarnished.

sounds to me like you're experiencing clear coat failure

I've heard about claybaring it but I'm not sure if it would remove the white.

It won't. It would be good for the whole car if it has never been done (to remove contamination--the stuff that you can feel, the grittyness) but it isn't going to touch oxidation.

You can try Meguiars ColorX. It should help, depending on how bad it is, you may have to bump up to something stronger.

If it is in "splotches" then this may be clear coat failure and for that, there is nothing you can do short of repainting.
