Bearing sizes
Can anyone explain to me in dummy terms how to figure out what crank bearings and rod bearings I need. I know you go by the colors and letters on the crank, but the Haynes chart confused me. Should I just pay someone to do it for me? The only thing is, I don't know of any shop to send it to. Eagle said I had to get my block notched out for their rods. Kind of feel like I'm over my head. Any help thanks
its a very simple task.always work from #1 cylinder to #4.on the rods there are numbers that correspond with letters on the crank.what you might want to do is contact your local honda dealer and ask them for a bearing conversion chart for your motor.when it comes to haynes or chilton manuals for hondas i would not use there specs.example if you have a #3 on your rod and a B on the crank you would crossrefrance those on your chart and you should end up with a green bearing
Eagle rods are all sized for #2. you still gotta get all the numbers and letters off the crank and block. Get the helms and get to reading... All you questions will be answered. BTW I don't see how you can rebuild the engine without it. You can always put all blacks in there....

Blacks are the samallest meaning your oil clearances will be greater. Roadracers use loose tolerances to help spin the crank faster. I've never done it but the parts manager and my local honda dealer has done it. He sold the car a bit afterwards and never had any problems. If your gonna want 100K+ mileage out of the motor then do it by the book.
Cool cuz I asked my Honda dealership today and they looked at me like I was retarded. They said because they don't rebuild motors they just swap them out. This is also the same place that didn't know what a throttle rotor was. Duh.
no honda doesnt rebuild motors but they do sell bearings.ask the parts person to get the chart from the service manuals and photo copy it for you.as for your rods call eagle yourself and ask them.
DO NOT listen to phatoptimo that is not the way to do it.you could end up will a locked up motor before you even get it in your car.after you get all your bearings go to autozone and pick up some plasticgage so you can check your bearing clearances as your building the motor.
