Belt is walking off Cam gear why???
I have a Z6 And I just started the motor for the first time today, and the belt is walking off the cam gear??? There also isn't a Crank pulley on the car yet so, im thinking maybe that holds it on??? and stops it from walking ??
So u must just be running it on the battery? well i could see how it might hold it on but thats down low. U have it walking up top. Well tighten up the tensioner or get a new belt.

i think what he ment was that hes using the stock crank pully and that the belt is moving on the cam gear side ways off the Cam gear itself. ive seen this happen before. I suggest rplacing the belt and the tensioner. This had solved the problem for me before.
If you have a fair amount of milage you may want to replace the water pump while you have it torn down that far. You'll find yourself pretty angry to go thru all that and find the water pump needed to be changed shortly afterward.

WOW!!!!! this thread is full of dumb *** people
the belt is probably walking off the gear because you don't have the bottom belt guide on or its moving around to much.
i threw one of my motors together too fast and i went out for a night of fun and illegal activities on the street and the belt kept trying to walk off, i had to stop a lot and push the belt back on the gears, i forgot to put on the bottom belt guide.
Try that first if the belt guide is on and isn't moving around a lot, put a new t-belt, tensionor, and water pump on it. PM me if you have anymore questions
