Default Anyone thats put an EG tranny on an EK motor help....

okay i have a 95 d16z6 transmission that im going to put on my 99 d16y7. i was looking at the clutch line on the tranny's and i noticed there diffrent. the 95 has a short hard line and then a soft line about 6 inches long. on the y7 tran's it has a hard line pretty much all the way to the firewall and then has the regular soft clutch line going to the firewall.

how would i hook up this transmission with these 2 diffrent types of clutch line setups??

thanks
chris

im not real familiar with the length of the EK line but if it is long enough to reach the slave cylinder then it should work fine. otherwise you are going to have to do something custom to make it work(like maybe using the softline from an eg)

i thought all d-series transmissions were straight bolt up with no mods needed. I fit a 99 y8 tranny on my old z6 and i didnt have a problem with anything along those lines

I have the same set-up, 95 z6 tranny, on a 99 y7. I didn't have any line problemas, probably b/c I swapped trannies during an auto-to-manual convo. Your best bet would be to get a y8 tranny, I mean the z6 tranny has some weak-*** shift forks and also, you'll have to get a custom mount or just run without one

is that mount diffrent??

i may just try to find a complete d16y8 swap for sale. that sounds like an easier idea.

thanks
