Default ecu suggestion

im doing a mpfi swap along with a sohc zc head. can someone tell me if a pm6 or pm7 would yield more power? also, any suggestions of manufacturers of ecu chips that have a more aggressive power band would be appreciated, or should i stick with the stock ecu chip?

thanks
-ben

I say go for whatever zc motors came with. Any other modification would be a waste IMHO, if you want to go for full tune, then go with hondata or whatever tuner company you preferer or have access to in your area.

PM6 --> SOHC ZC is just a nice name for a D16A6

ha thanks, i wasnt sure of it, but that realisation was also being pondered in my head. Do the Si and "Sohc ZC" have the same cam profiles as well?

Thanks

There is 5-10 degree difference on the exhaust lobe of the cam in the SOHC ZC, other then that all measurements are the same.

Then that would be the D15B, also known as the SOHC VTEC ZC.

does that 5-10 degree difference yield much of a gain in hp?
thanks

Seeing that the SOHC ZC makes about ten more horsepower than the A6....

Well I beg to differ as that minute amount is not enough to allow for a 10 horsepower gain. My theory is that the correct rating of the SOHC ZC and the D16A6 is ~120hp, but was UNDERRATED in the States to keep insurance costs down. There have been cases of underrating before to lower insurance costs, but mainly by Domestics so it would be the case that the Import companies would do the same.

well just keep in mind your engine is a d15, not a d16a6... so the ecu isnt going to change that much, and if u get a chipped pm6 it'll probably run way to rich or something to that extent, i say just stick with a stock pm6, your still gaining alot of power anyway

i agree on the underating of the hp. ive heard of a decent number of Si's that have put down over 100whp with minimal bolt-ons. do u think that the d15 block with the sohc ZC head and mpfi will yield more hp then a stock Si, or will the .1L less displacement cancel out the .1:1 increase in compression?

No, the SOHC ZC VTEC is a 1.5L, thus the designation D15B.
