Default 1998 itr difference compared to '00-'01? Ecu specific.....

98's are obd2 version 1 and 00-01 are obd2 version 2?

Different ecu and different plugs/ pinouts on the ecu/ harness?

98's don't have the immobilizer, correct?

Anything else?

What would I need to do to convert a 98 to 00 spec? or vice-versa?

I would think because of the difference in cams the ecu might be different too...
But what do I know

The ecu connectors are physically the same, but the pinouts are different.

I found out the hard way years ago. Bought a used skunk 2 chipped P28 and a jumper harness. Tried to install the ecu and harness in my '98 and it wouldn't crank. Then discovered that there was a different harness for the '98 vs the 00-01. Bought the '98 jumper harness and everything worked ok. Also double checked the electrical troubleshooting manual (Helms) and found the pin locations in the ecu connectors had been moved around. I'm sure someone else here can confirm this.
