Default JDM KMH MPH change over converter

i just ran across this site by accident. appearently these people make a converter that plugs into the VSS line and some how tricks somthing into making ur JDM gauge cluster read those KMH numbers as MPH numbers. i was reading SPORT COMPACT CAR (the one with BRIAN SPILNER aka PAUL WALKER's) and i saw this skyline that read in MPH even those ther number were in KMH. not sure if it is easy to follow what im saying to ill break it down a little bit easier. Ok say u have a jdm clutser and ur driving down the road at 80 KMH, ur not going 80 mph. but with this converter if ur cluster said 80 kmh you would be really going 80 mph. understand? well here is the site http://www.kilburne.com/2410/frames.php just curious if maybe someone has done this before and i missed it when searching or if someone has used them and kept it a secret from the rest of the HT world. well this just locked my into buying a jdm cluster. that is all.

I've had a jdm cluster for about 2 years now its not hard just convert it in your head. Saves you 40 euro. 120kmh is about 75mph 100khm is about 60mph or just stay with traffic. Spend your money on something else

True, I have a JDM cluster and I just look at the KPH, drop the zero and multiply by 6...

For exapmle: 60KPH 6*6= 36mph
100KPH 10*6= 60mph

These are approx. but within 2mph either way...

yea same here, its easy to convert. It also keeps me from recklessly speeding since the numbers go up so high

This is true... I gave my friend a ride home from work, and he looks at my cluster on the highway and he says, "Damn you're **** rides smooth at 100."

Hmmm...waht do you do if your travelling at 115 kmph????? j/k

My last 5 cars were all JDM imports and you get used to it very quickly. as said above the main ones to remember are 50kmph=30mph, 80kmph = 50mph 100kmph = 60mph and 120kmph = 75mph anything above and your exceeding the speed limit so it doesnt really matter what speed your doing because if your caught your getting a ticket anyway!

1 miles = 1.609344 kilometers

my teg is in kms, but my daily driver is in miles, it takes less than a min of driving to get use to having km/hr on the outside of the speedo....

wow, if I did that conversion thing, my speedo would go to 230mph....lol..... like that could ever happen....

well im in spain right now. and the exchange rate for euro to dollar sucks it is like 1 dollar is 1.32 euro. so roughly $52.80 i think. but that sign thy have on the site isnt a euro sign that ive seen, looks more like a british pound sign to me. the euro is like a C with = in the middle of it. i know this site mentioned turning the Japanese stero to work with English cars. so i think they charge in Pounds.

It is just so much easier to do the conversion in your head than to play with that harness.

haha ok, if u say so. i just like the fact of quick glance, rolling down the interstate in moderate traffic, i dont really wanna look be like ok 120 kmh thats XX mph then after u get done thinking, BAM u just hit someone. worst case senario of course. i suck at doin 2 things at once.

WHat i do is divide the number by 2 then add the multiples.
I know it makes no sense, heres an example

60kmh divide by 2 = 30.
divide 60 by 10 = 6.
30 + 6 = 36 roughly around 36 MPH

So for 100kmh divide by 2 = 50.
divid 100 by 10 = 10.
50+10 = 60.

I think it just going to take some time for you to get used to it. the longer you drive you'll get the sense that 100kmp is 60mph and junk like that

Sorry if i made things more comlicated
