Default Awful Coolant Smell inside of car?.....

hey HT,

I have a 96' GSR w/ a b18c1 block, b16 head with a stock head gasket. Anyway I just developed this awful coolant smell in my car as of this afternoon....I searched a little bit and the other threads seem to indicate that it could be a head gasket. But I just have had this motor put together a little over a month ago...sooo I am going to rule that out at this point. I read in a couple of other places that a bad heater core could also cause this smell....is this true? Also my coolant reservoir was completely empty! Any help at all would be appreciated! Thanks in advance...

Its leaking somewhere, could be the heater core. Have you checked the oil to see if there is any coolant there?

Heater core....

I just did on on a vw passat and it kicked my *** had to pull the entire dash out of the car

Im putting all my money on the heater core. You might not even see coolant on the ground, it might be filling up in the evaporator box. Thats what the vw had, it was almost filled to the top, and it smelled bad of coolant inside.

the newer cars have a tube that if the heater core goes out it dumps under the car and NOT in the car. so let the car run and see if any coolant is under the car, it wont be in the inside. happend to me
