Default Hondata Q...

I dont want to sound like an idoit... but heres my case..

ive been fidiling around with engines and know a bit.. however i dont know everything ( and before you all decide to call me an idiot... at one point you guys didnt know anything either) ... I have picked up a b18c5 for my 89 civic dx and im gonna be fixin it up (the car is simply a lapping car right now.. not street legal)... and im gonna change stuff like (AEMS IM, Skunk 2 Cam & Cam Gears, Dual Valve Springs w/Titanium retainers, thinner head gasket to bump compression up, in tank fuel punp & pressure regulator.. and b16a ecu to minimilze errer codes).. however I hear all this talk about needing a hondata unit... ive looked up and tried to do all the research i could.. however.. what are the exact benefits of having one and is it even needed... (ive been told i need one to produce any gains out of the cams).... is this true... please help me out... i dont want to spend money where i dont have to seeing how im on a tight budget..

When ever you can FINE TUNE the car to perform better you will have more and better results.

If your just using a simple tuning device such as VAFC you can only make minor adjustments but nothing in the detailed dept.

Hondata or AEM EMS should work just fine for you.
