I was wondering if i get a flywheel which one should i get Act prolite or Act streetlite and why.

 

ight man, i have the ACT streetlite so ill help ya out how I came to my decision
for preludes 92-01 theres the

#600130 - Prolite 9.9lbs
#600190 - Streetlite 11.9lbs

ok your stock flywheel depending on you yr is i think around 22lbs, dont quote me on that, but im positive of ACT specs.

Both are extremely light, with the prolite, your car will rev the fastest, but it will also down rev the fastest, say ure coming up to a light, and you downshift, less inertia, your tach is going to fall very very fast, maybe too fast for your liking.

With the streetlite, it has better driveablity than the prolite. Prolite is USUALLY for ALOT of drag/track use. And will down rev a little bit slower than the prolite. Both flywheels are more than a 10lb cut down from stock, so youll feel the difference either way.

With the streetlite and XTSS clutch kit, traffic sometimes sucks, not gonna lie, but youll love the reving and hard grab of a new clutch as well.

The flywheels also have something to do with top end, like interstate driving, when you accelerate. Im not too sure about this so let someone else explain top end to you, i think it actually hurts you a little becasue it takes more work to spin the flywheel faster because its moving too fast, like pedaling faster at high speed in lower gears on a bike, almost impossible. Im prob wrong, but let someone else take that one.

you are almost 100% correct on the weights, but the prolite weighs 8.8lbs. i have the ProLite flywheel and i absolutely love it, ya it falls in rpms quick, but it also picks right back up very quick. i never had a chance to run my h22 with a stock flywheel, cuz i changed alot of stuff out while the motor was out of the car, so i cant really tell you the difference. but i would get the ProLite cuz its lighter and possibly give you a lil more power.

 

I have the streetlite, and it runs almost like stock. It really depends on what you want. I like the streetlite because it works great for daily driving.

how would the prolite be in LA traffic? does the prolite really hurt your daily driving ability? or is it a matter of getting used to?

i have no clue how LA driving is, im sure its bumper to bumper, but like you said, it jus a matter of getting used to.

 

i ad the fidanza 8-9 lb flywheeel when i was NA... it was hard @ 1st took me a few weeks to get use too....


now im using streetlite... IS REAL GOOD w/boost

 

what type of driving are you going to be doing ? drag racing ? autoX? daily driver ?

the prolite is recommened for autoX and such. Streetlite is recommended for drag racing/daily driving as a little bit extra inertia is needed.

 

Well I do a little of both. I don't drag as much anymore(damn heavy car) But I still make it down to the track about twice a month. But I also go canyon running alot. Basicly I drive my car hard and fast. Which do you all recommend??

I dont have a prelude, but I do have a ACT Streetlite and I do live in LA (2 out of 3). I love it b/c of the quicker revving but it still is good in LA traffic on the 405 @5pm . I have driven in a car with the prolite and it is nice but in LA it would suck if you were in traffic alot (that is anytime between 6am-10pm). I like the streetlite and would say that would be the better choice, you wont miss that little extra revving ability when you are in that traffic with a streetable clutch.

Where has your info been obtained? this comes from ACT directly, posted right on thier website #600130, I also wieghed the prolite befor I installed one in my car, 9.9lb. hopefully this will conclude all the uneducated banter from any one thinking the ACT prolite wieghs less than 9.9lb.


The main problem with a prolite in drag racing is if you use anything more aggressive than street tires (drag radials, slicks) on a lude you will bog hard.
Both both the streetlite and prolite are very streetable when used with the stock clutch. I would say if you go lightwieght flywheels go the prolite, otherwise just stay stock flywheel.

advice and opinion <U>are</U> the same thing. I gave first hand <U>experience</U> with a prolite and how it affects drag racing, which pertained to the original post as to what the advantage and disadvantage was to one or the other, with the prolite being the discussed item. No need to post offensive 'for the record' attacks.

If you race on the street/strip,have the stock ones shaved a couple of pounds(5-7 pounds).The rev are going to go up faster but you wont loose top end like you do with the racing one.

BTW My prelude(4gen) did 13.3@105(street legal and all motor)I got pictures and videos so I will post them soon

When you respond in all caps, it comes off as offensive. **shrug**

 

It isnt safe to shave the stock one very far. It will throw the flywheel out of balance, and you risk the structural integrity of a stock flywheel with material missing vs a flywheel that was built to be lightweight and safe while doing it.


Even if you do shave a stock one it weighs what, 20 somethin lbs ? shave 5 lbs off and you still have a 15 lbs flywheel.

 

how much of a difference (speed) would there be from going from the prolite to the streetlite? 5 pm @405 traffic sucks and traffics an big *** issue in LA
