Default 75 shot of O

this might be a stupid question but it has been bugging be.If n20 does its thing because it has more oxygen than normal air, why could you not just run a shot of strait oxygen with enough fuel and forged piston would it still not work. I'm sure someone else has thought of this and I'm sure there is a good reason why it can't be done so explain this to me

The short answer is that oxygen would create too much heat and the risk for pre-ignition would be much higher than when using nitrous.

I believe it has been seriously pondered by many but tried by few. It may have been used by NASA or something like that. People also have written about hydrogen peroxide injection.

In the end it is something that is very theoretical at this point. Nitrous works very well so I don't think the general tuner audience is searching for a substitute.

It burns way too fast and too hot. You could not control the combustion of pure oxygen. Nitrous is only 33% oxygen and the nitrogen slows the burn. Imagine what pure 100% oxygen would be like.

not to mention that it would be very dangerous to drive around with a tank of pure oxygen in your car...
