Wings West Sideskirts
Hi i have a wingswest sideskirts on my 89 crx(i bought the car with it), now im planning on removing it because whenever i open the passenger side door the fat thing installed on lower part of the door pushes in the fender
, im planning on removing the sideskirts so i can fix it and sand the whole thing down.
im assuming the previous owner of this car didnt install the sideskirts right. i need help/directions on installing the skirts properly, thanks alot in advance.

They tend to do that. There should be slightly less than 1" gap between the front edge of the door and the door cap and even then it'll still rub if you open the door all the way.

Yea', i just took them out right now. It has double sided tapes all over.
I'll probably do that adhesive and double sided tape combo. I can't wait to make
this body look straight and clean.
Anymore suggestions anyone?

no, anything but that stupid tape crap especially on urathane i have that on my eclipse with a body kit, the paint shop said its the only way to go and the **** gets hot in the summer and peals out and wants to come off!!!
i have a wings west kit on my crx worse mistake i could have done im in the process of saving for the buddyclub/black widow style sideskirts becausse i had my doors shaved and it looks goofy with just sideskirts and no door caps. as far as sideskirts go in my opinion. i used about 1 1/2 inch wood screws to screw it in to the body(it sounds ghetto but i promise it works, ive been in many accidents and they never came off). now the trick is making the wood screws dissapear, what i found the best way to do that is to get a dremal with a sanding wheel and sand the head of the screw flush with the body you will see it get so hot that it will litterally melt the urathane to the screw making it flush with the kit and somewhat even sunken in then comes the fiberglass to cover the tops of the screws. sand the fiberglass then LIGHTLY I DO MEAN LIGHTLY bondo over the area and wet sand. then your ready for your primer after you of course sand to fine grit id end the sanding with about a 250 to 300 grit wet paper

My CRX is currently at the bodyshop and how they installed the Wings West kit on my car as well as another EF hatch thats there is they bonded the urethane parts to the car then used screws from inside as well as from outside the door.
They also put a bunch of brackets for the bumpers and side skirts...
LOL no bumpers floppin in the wind here

I second the screwing from the inside. I installed the WW body kit (fiberglas) on my crx about 8 years ago, and thats how they suggested to install. Haven't had a single problem in that time span. If you screw from the outside and fill with bondo/resin, it will be a PITA if you ever have to remove for any reason.
