Aftermarket CRX Carb
Hi All,
Does anyone know of aftermarket carb kits for a first gen CRX? It is the 12valve 3 bbl model and I'd like to upgrade it to something like twin 2bbl carbs. One other question, my 'Rex suffers from the cold start problem--she won't idle when first started if she's cold (off for 3 hours or so) and I have to feather the gas. I've heard this is usually a lower plate problem. Thanks on both!

dont know much about carbs but ur crx has an electric choke right? make sure nothing is disconnected. also even though it says 91 and lower on this board most 1st gen questions are directed to redpepperracing.com
Twin Side Drafts I think there called, kinda like ITB on a Fuel injected car. Theres a couple companys that make them, weber, solex, holly, but I herd the problem with them is having to keep them in tune.
I already replied to you over email, but I thought I'd add this here, since it may be useful for someone to find in the search later. Couldn't post it earlier due to that infernal 5-post limit.
There are a couple options. Assuming stock internals, dual side DCOE's would be huge overkill. I think a better option would be a Weber DGV, DGEV or DGAV 32/36, which will offer good fuel economy and more power over stock. I had that carb on my BMW 2002 and it was quite good, though I am switching to a single DCOE. The only difference between the three is the choke type. (DGV = Manual, DGAV = Water, DGEV = Electric.) Probably not smog legal, if you live where it matters.
Here's a link to a good vendor that carries kits and manifolds for just about any car. I've heard nothing but good about them from the old BMW crowd.
