Default Stupid Question.. Are all B series engines the same size, just different boring?

I was looking for an oil pan for a b16a2 and i noticed they klump the b-series together when the advertise. Are parts like this universal? Also, do the heads of say a b16 bolt onto a b18 or b17 etc..? I'm starting to get confused now. I was thinking of buyin a b16a2 block and building it. So this is why i bring this up. Thank you.

Yea, most parts are interchangable. Heads and block are, for the most part. (Cant bolt a VTEC head on a non VTEC block without modification) but for about 95% of parts can be swapped back and forth.

Im guessing your car is a 92-00 civic. use any hydrolic transmission. gsr,b16,ls,type r,Si(99-00) all these will bolt right up

b16 oil pans are not interchangeable with b18c, but i heard they are interchangeable with b18a/b. b18c abd b16 head gaskets are the same, and i have one for sale if interested, brand new

whats the cheapest transmission that would bolt up to the b16a2, I'm asking this becuase theres this little voice in my head saying it may not be the b16 tranny thats the cheapest for some reason.

must all the B series bottom ends have interchangeable Heads and Trans, exept for the old school (like 87 or so, the ones with AWS) Preludes. Those have B22's on them but they are not copatible with newer B series..

Actually you are wrong, the b18c oil pan IS different from the b16, because of the main gridle on the b18c. The b18c has p72 stamped on it too, where as the b16 doesn't, and it doesn't fit if you try to line it up.

NP, I had to replace my b16's awhile back, so i did some research and that was what i found. Plus i tried fiting the b18c's oil pan to physically see that it doesn't fit.
