First of all my car leaks down in behind my dash where the fan for the heaters is located, when it rains.

A couple of days ago while driving in the rain, my window started to fog up so i turned the air con demister on and while the vents opened up the fan didnt work, a minute or so later i could smell a burning smell. It smelt like something was shorting out around the fan somewhere. I had a look from underneath (under the dash) but couldnt see anything wrong.

Just wanted to know if anyone knew exactly what the problem is or any suggestions, and can i fix this problem without having to pull the dash apart. Cheers in advance

 

check all fuses, relays regarding the system, and if all good, then finally see if you got power and ground at the plug. if so, then you need the fan.
