WHAT TRANS DO I USE........?
I JUST BOUGHT AN 89 CIVIC HB. I WORK AT A SALVAGE YARD SO PARTS ARE DEFINATLY AVAILABLE. MY BOSS GAVE ME A B18 ENGINE OUT OF A 89 INTEGRA. MY QUESTION IS WHAT TRANS DO I USE FOR THE SWAP? WHAT ONES FROM WHAT CARS ARE BETTER? ALSO IF ANYONE KNOWS WHERE I CAN GET LITTERATURE FOR THE SWAP, IT WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
The best thing to do is to search all the answers are out there but you will have to dig a little to find them. Search recent and archived threads
b blocks, get b trans. D blocks get D trans. what trans you want depends on what you want. Theres Close Ratio Trans, thats good for N\A drag racing. but **** for gas. Then theres the Wide gears witch might be good for a turbo application, found mostly on the low end hondas. SI trans are close ratio.

Get a b16 trans, or LS trans of course. </TD></TR></TABLE>

i sure hope not. i hate when people dont get that longer gears are not better...
anyway, find out if your boss gave you a b18a1 from a 90 integra or a d16a1 from an 89 integra and go from there.

Check the stamp on the block to find out what engie it is. The D16a1 won't fit your HB but with a mount kit the B18a will. The easiest solution with a B18a is find you good cable tranny from the same 90-93 integra and go from there. If it turns out to be a D16a1 then you're better of getting a ZC.
