Default motor swap issues

Just got the swap done and have one problem that is bugging me. Motor is 97 C5 and has CTR intake cam, skunk2 gears and ecu, aem filter, b/m fuel regi(which was set to 57 psi). First the problem, when in vtec the motor is fine until coming out where it bogs down until 4k rpms. It seems to fix and goes back to normal, the motor also pops. I have adjusted the fuel pressure down to 40 psi but it still happens. Replaced plugs with ngk iridium, msd wires and stock cap for now. What is happening?

95% of the people on this forum have never done a motor swap let alone tried to diagnose a swap problem.

I think they are suggesting you visit the proper forum, your having problems with your swap, talk to people that have done it. If that is arrogant?

I would prefer to be arrogant over ignorant any day.

My first guess is that the Skunk2 ECU, try a stock ITR ECU and see if its better.
Maybe some cam gear tuning or a VAFC could help your situation.

Why do you keep peddling your wares here? Are the classifieds links in j00r signature not enough.....especially since a JDM ECU would do him no good.

Thanks for the help, I talked to InlinePro and he said my setup is old and that I would make more HP with stock ECU. Don't have VAFC yet but put it on the XMas list. For now it is good enough to drive home and fix later. What is the MPG you are getting with your R?

I'm driving a 97 ITR with a CTR intake cam, cam gears, AEM FPR, DC 4-1, carsound cat, custom SMSP 2.5" exhaust, with a Mugen intake and stock ECU.

This setup netted almost 178 whp and 126 lb/ft on the InlinePro dynojet and I get about 33-34 mpg on the highway while doing 70-75 mph.
City driving nets around 28 mpg. HTH

Why in the HELL would he want a JDM ITR ecu when he obviously stated that he has a 97 C5...

I'm wondering if you set the fuel pressure correctly, with the vacuum line off.

That is nice, so far I am at around 110 miles at half a tank. Seems a bit low but I will do the numbers when it is time to refuel. Thanks for the dyno chart, was thinking about going there myself but with these problems it would be a waste. Looking into getting that ecu, thanks for the help!

Think it maybe a timing issue, while putting the belt on the exhaust cam gear moved like one tooth to the advance side, which is almost 10 degrees. I am surprised the car runs but don't know much about timing. Tomorrow I am going to set it back to 0,0.
