Default Tach / RPM gauge is not reading correctly

I have a h22 swap into a civic. My rev limiter is set at 9,000. I noticed after my swap if I would take it passed 8,000 it would hit the limiter but never made much of it. I just installed a new AEM ecu and notice the higher the rpms go the greater the difference between the gauge and what the computer reads is. For example at about 3,000 rpms the computer read 2,800, at 7,000 it the computer almost reads 8,000. Has anyone experianced this? Can anyone help? Is there anyway to correct the problem?

The stock tachs are all off, especially in the higher rpm's. common problem.

one week back it was ok, I would rev to 8000rpm and the vafc would say 7800rpm. And now I rev tell 7000rpm and the vafc say 8000rpms.

I am using 225/50/15, and yea I have dual springs. Do you guys know if on the back of the cluster their is an adjustment? I have seen that adjustment on toyotas. It just kisses me off this 1000rpm's.

You could get an aftermarket tach, (a small one), and that would be more accurate I think.

you can somewhat adjust the cluster yourself. not sure the year of your civic but eks have a pointer that tach rests on when the car is off. if you take the dial and move it over to the other side of the pointer, you'll notice the dial well/ should roll down. (oh this is after you pull the cluster out!) mark where the dial ends up. now take a small screw driver and pop off the dial, you need to put the dial back on but at a lower point and move it back on the other side of the pointer. you can leave the plastic cover off and reinstall the cluster in the car. them drive around and you can adjust from there.

OR

buy a new/ used tach from honda (save on adjustment headaches!!!)
