knocking sound coming from head.!!!!!?
I ve never seen this before but its happening now. Out of the blue my motor started to make a knocking noise and it loud and very Speratic, it'll do it @ any rev range and anywhere from a split second up to 20 seconds. I can hear when I'm driving and the car looses all power when the noise is present. I also noticed a white smoke coming from my breather tube and the exhaust sounds like its missing. The noise is loud and sound like there were a metal piece smacking against something in there but I cant tell what it is. I took off the valve cover and all the bolts for adjusting the valves were all there and weren't loose. could the head be fucked?
it loses power because im pretty sure you have a check engine light for the knock sensor, which it automatically retards the timing causing you to run like ****, are you sure its coming from the head, i think its probably coming from the bottom end.
I'd suggest removing the oil pan and looking at your bottom end. I lost a bearing once, because a rod bolt wasn't torqued to specs and worked itself out (talk about catastrophic damage). It's loud, sounds really bad, and you lose compression = no power. My engine would die unless I kept it gased, when it happened to me.

It defenitly sounds like it coming from the head though.

I just drove the last couple day and the noise has dissapeared but I dont know if I wanna push it.
ive got some weird knockin noise too, but i can definately tell its comin from my dizzy or somewhere VERY close. i can only hear it when my motor is down reving. say for instance, i rev my engine up to 3 grand and let it go down, and once it gets to idle rpms, you hear it and my rpms jump from 750 to around 1100 then back down to 750. then you dont hear it once it revs back up. my ear was within inches of it, im 100% sure. anyone know what that could be???
i had a boken skunk2 inner valve spring making that noise. i couldn't figure out what it was until a piece of it got sucked through my oil pump and cracked it, spilling oil everywhere
get a long screwdriver, probe the head and block with it against your ear and you can hear where it is coming from and determine, from that

bump for maybe an answer to my problem!!!
bump for maybe an answer to my problem!!!
I figured out what was my problem... the noise was not from the head after all. It was coming from cyl#2.... rings were gone and the piston was smacking against the sleeve. this sucks
thats what i figured after reading this post, its really hard to tell where a knock is coming from. sorry bout your misfortune if you can save up and do a nice build !
Ive had this problem since the day I bought my lude. I also have a 3 year warranty, yet when I complain to honda about it, but all they do is send someone out for a test drive, come back and tell me it might be the heat shield, or some crap. I'm getting sick of being jerked around. Anyone have some advice? Also, my throw out bearing sounded like its had its last days. Can it possibly be covered by warranty also?
