Next mod???
Hey everyone. Iam just wondering what my next mod should be. Next week my girlfriend is buying me the zex street/strip cam and springs and reatiners for my bday. I already have a cai,h,e,pulleys. What should I do next. Iam thinking hondata or p&p. Thanks for the ideas.

defiantly good p&p work, as far as the ecu go with a OBDI ecu + harness converter, much better then full all out hondata, unless you are planning a turbo or some N20 runs

dont really want to swap it and really cant. I cant remember the time I have had that amount of money sitting around(Iam 18 and in college). I was thinking p&p so I guess that will be it. Iam doing handiling **** after the speed stuff. Why is a obdI better than a hondata? Thanks for the info

definately go with the port/polish work....i had a mg midget and the headgasket was blown, pulled it off and decided y the hell not, ill p&p it....pulled much stronger throughout the whole power band
I would have to agree to P&P and then also gettng rid of the pulleys. I have them and have taken them off my car just recently. I feel no difference in performance, though I would have to say that I have not had idle speed trouble since I took them off. Just a suggestion
Forget P&P on a SOHC, waste of money. Save for a swap if that's an option. There's not much you can do with SOHC if you plan to stay N/A and you want to go fast. If you don't want to spend the money on a swap and you don't really wanna go that fast, then just stop where you're at and save your money, your car already has the basics and i'm sure you car can keep up or beat other cars in your league.
No an engine swap isnt an option (well I wish it was) the cheapest place and I have called a bunch for a b16 swap is 3200 the price for a b18c(what ever the code for the gsr motor)was close to five. First off that is a ******* rip off, second I cant even change my oil so there is no chance in hell I could pull off an engine swap, I really cant see my self being 18 and in college with 3200 dollars at one time. I know Iam gonna want alittle more out of my engine. I am going to port and polish the head and proboble big bore throttle body with port matched intake and then Ill be done maybe
. Just checking but why do you think it is a waste????

if you can't find a b16 for $1200 or less, you didn't look hard enough. personnelly i'd get the p&p. for a long time, even after the dohc came out, they've been trying to see just how fast can an sohc be. i have a d16z6. i intend on trying to make it as fast as i can. the most hp i seen in a sohc so far was 186. i'm hoping to get around 230(full motor work, turbo, nos). my project is in the works right now (for about the past 5 months) so i'll let you know the out come (in about 1 to 1 half years). my moneys tight too while going to school. be sure to post how big your ponies get after all your work finished.

$3200 sounds about right for a b18c1 swap, which is the one you should be looking for or even a b18b(LS) swap, which happens to be my personal favorite. You should be able to find any b18b with a moderate amount of miles for no more than $2500 on the net. In fact, try http://www.jdmclub.com they have complete swaps(includes tranny,ECU,harnasses,etc...) and I have only heard good things about them.
mugen-EG6 is right though, you might be able to get some decent power with the SOHC, but in the end it will cost you a lot more to do it. There are some fast SOHCs out there, though do you know of any personally...I would venture to say no. Why? Because either it is a waste of money or most have taken the cheaper way(more expensive initially) and got a GSR, LS, or ITR engine. Plus, a swap can be one of the most reliable and risk free ways to add decent power to your car. Later, if you are mildly serious about power look into a turbo or s/c for your newly swapped DOHC. Just keep this in mind, the more you add little hp gains here and there the more money you are using that could be used on a swap which would have already given you the hp you are looking for. Basically, 20 mods vs. 1 simple mod.

Well ok, like I said in the previous post I cannot even change oil. I dont think I could take my engine out and put a new one in with the hammer and screwdriver I have for tools. I called about every single shop located in my area and even a couple outside wis and the cheapest prices for a b16 installed was 3200. For 3200 you could have a sohc engine that would beat the crap out of a stock b16. Eventually like say 4 years down the road
, when I get my hatch Iam gonna get a gsr engine but till then...sohc. Thanks for the advise

Halive, if you could find an engine for cheap...I would be willing to help. If my parents were OK with it I would even say bring your car to my garage, and we will do the swap there....say, around $800? I've done one myself(my own car), and I know I could easily do another.
Oh, for all you people out there, Wisconsin area prices for engine swaps are outragous!
