Default How to tell a true JDM engine tranny??

As the topic says, how do i tell a true JDM engine and tranny. there are a few engine shops around and they all say they can get a JDM motor, but i dont really know. Is it in the VIN? any help would be great.

You'll be hard pressed to find any JDM tranny's with VIN's on them. When it comes to tranny's, the most that many people can do is hope.

ya on the engine there is a VIN and one of the digits pertains to the country from which it originated. cant remember which one of the digits but you could probably just look it up on the internet.

I'll assume your talking about a Y80 JDM integra tranny? I had an Si-VTEC and there were no markings on the casing to set it apart from a US tranny. And i have seen JDM Si/SiR Integras with S80 gearboxes and some with Y80 (mine had a Y80 with LSD) There should be a bar code label that has the tranny type (Y80/S80) on the casing, check with US GSR owners and get the bar code numbers and then see if you can find JDM Integra Si owners and get them to check their bar code, there may be differences in the numbers that allow you to tell the two apart. Check out http://forum.hondarevolutions.com/ as there are at least 8 or 9 JDM Integra Si-VTEC/SiR/SiR-G owners on there that may be able to help you.
