Bose sub fix--*This is the REAL DEAL*
This is on the December 01 Acura TSB. If your RSX's VIN falls in the 1-16000 range, there are two wires in the subwoofer assembly that the factory reversed. I performed the fix today myself in about 10 minutes and the bass is a hundred times better. It actually makes the sub worthwhile. Bass freaks won't be satisfied, but it sounds much nicer.
Here's how you do it:
Pull the sub assembly out of the spare tire. Take the six bolts off the top of the assembly and open the casing (fyi, it's a standard bolt, not metric--can't remember the exact one). Pull the amp (ha!) out of the right hand side of the casing and disconnect the wires from the amp. In the white plug leading into the amp, you'll need to pull out the PURPLE and YELLOW wires. I did it using a very small flathead screwdriver to pry them out but I'm sure there are specialized tools you could use. Plug the purple wire into the slot the yellow wire previously was, and vice versa. Put everything back together and see if you don't notice a nice increase in the bass.

Heh, the most effective fix is to pull that overrated, overpriced, thorough POS we know as Bose out of your car. Then douse it in gasoline and drop a lit match on it.
Now go buy a real stereo.

I paid for the damned stereo, might as well get the most out of it

I personally like the Bose system. Not the brain grinding 4 12's stunna base but still decent.
I did the same to my S. I definetly noticed the xtra bass, but is it me because i also notice that the inside speakers are giving me better sound especially the treble. It sounds pretty good..... wat about u guys????

I am only saying that Bose is one of the biggest rip-offs in terms of value; they are far too expensive for the quality of sound that you get.
Now, how does that make any sense? I agree that Bose is overpriced, but it's not horrible sounding. If you've already payed for it in the cost of the car, you definitely shouldn't throw it out and light it on fire. That's just a waste of money
I was very skeptical of this "fix" - but tell you what, hot damn the system sounds 200% better - not just the bass, the whole thing...
Thanks for the post!

I promise you it's better than 99% of all OEM stereo systems.
As for getting the most out of what you already have: Don't get me wrong, I'm 100% behind it!
But if your mentality is that,"Well, I paid for it, I guess I'm stuck with it." Well...why modify your car at all? You paid for the stock intake, didn't you? Why buy a different one? The exhaust, the cams, etc., etc. Why?
Because sometimes OEM doesn't cut it! I'm sure the Bose system is fine for most car audio applications. Hell, I only spent the amount of money I have on my car audio beacause the original system was so bad I can't listen to it at all. I must have my music with me at all times.
And yes, in my experience, Bose is unlistenable. Maybe I'm fussy, but....paying thousands of dollars for a glorified boombox is silly. The power of advertising, eh?Ah, hell. Now I'm arguing on the Internet.
funny how reversed polarity will hinder low frequency drivers huh!
Try it a home with the big stereo (you wont notice on a boombox). Take the two wires going into a right OR left speaker, and flip them around (as long as its not full blast you wont hurt a thing)
sounds like **** huh?
When a speakers polarity is reversed the speaker will move in the OPPOSITE direction....therefore CANCELLING OUT the sound wave of the OTHER speaker near it...this is most evident and noticable in the LOW frequencies.
