Default question about wreckless driving/riding tickets

Just got a wreckless ticket this sunday.. sucks I know. Anyway on the ticket it reads "general wreckless driving" with no indication of the posted speed limit or the actual speed I was riding.
The cop pulled me over and told me that he pulled me over because I was riding at around 80mph and never told or asked me if I knew the speed limit.
If he pulled me over for speeding then why wouldn't he call it a "speeding wreckless driving" rather than general and why didn't he put how fast I was going on the ticket.
Maybe because he didn't know how fast I was going for sure since all he did was pace me and never used a radar? Your thoughts?

get an attourney, reckless is a gross misdeminor and can record as a criminal record... insurance companies will not like a reckless citation at all

But I wasn't doing wheelies or anything like that. I was just riding a lil too fast I guess. WOuldn't they want to cite me for speeding vs a general wreckless or even a speeding wreckless ticket?

I doubt I'd need a lawyer.. first of all I haven't had a ticket in five years and never had a wreckless in my life.

Don't be stubborn. Don't be stupid.

You just got a reckless driving ticket. You DO need a lawyer.

Trust me (and don't ask me how I know).

It doesn't matter what your previous record is, a reckless driving ticket is very bad.

Get a lawyer, its the best $100-$150 you will spend. I had 2, 6-pt. speeding tickets in the same week in the same court and my pawyer got one dropped to a parking ticket and the other to a 3-pt. 1-10mph over.

Go fight it... this may be a new feature to our great law system, general in terms so the police can lay them around without having to be specific or having to actyually see or messure a crime (Is speeding a crime?) Let us know what is what when you find out.

But,
My friend and I both got reckless driving tickets (different times, same county). He decided that he did not need a lawyer. He went to court, he got a $1000 fine and all of the points on his record.

I hired a lawyer. I paid $500 and the lawyer got everything dropped if I took a 4 hour driving school. I had to pay for court costs. $500+175= $675 with no points!

You decide what you want to do.

Anyhow, 80mph is relative. Were you on the freeway? Residential? School zone? Get a traffic lawyer.

In california, pacing is a good enough means to determine your speed. In the long run, I don't see why a judge will see a difference between general and speeding wreckless driving. Maybe you did more than just one thing, like change lanes without signalling, cut people off, etc, etc.
