ok, so iv been wanting to get new suspenion for my teg for a while, and have done a lot of research, and just when i think iv made up my mind, i get thinking again and change my mind. ok so heres the deal, im willing to spend around 800 on either a full coilover, or coilover sleeve and strut, but would really like to save a little money if i could. i drive my car year round in MN, and on some pretty harsh roads some of the time, but i still wana get a set up that i know will make me happy when i take it to the track, since thats what i really wana do with my car. i also want an adjustable dampening set up, also i only plan on doing like a 1.5 drop or so, my car will not be slammed to the ground by anymeans...here is what i have considered.
Tein Super Streets $850ish but havnt heard the best of things about em latly, mostly have soft spring rates and not being all that great on the track.
GCs and koni yellows $850 pretty common set up and very well liked. i imagine it it does well on the track and street.
GCs and tokico illuminas $700 cheaper option as compaired to the yellows, and iv heard good things about the struts.
GCs and bilsteins $700 good price, non-adjustable, i know they are good struts, just not sure how people like them and think they perform.
omni power coilovers $600ish but non-adjustable, but really havnt heard much
about them good or bad.....
also, is there any differance bettween the limited edition GCs compaired to the regular ones besides ride height. (.5-3.5) vs (0-2.5)
so what i really wana hear is what you have, how u use it, if you like it, and what you think i should get givin my intentions.... i think right now im leaning towards the GCs and illuminas, because it will allow me to save a little money, yet not miss out on any benifits of a differant set up...thanks h-t...

ive been looking into something different lately, the D2 36 way adjustable full coilover, retails at about 850...not many honda people use them but a few do...nissan heads seem to use them alot and have nothing bad to say about them...
word! Same with me. All my friends say "GC" are crappy rides.
But, that's what u get if u want to perform at the tracks.
These people here says that teins are too soft.
Well, that's what you get when u want smooth ride on the streets.
I did my research just like you did and i'm willing to spend the same amount.
I'm thinking between GC and koni/neuspeed or Tein SS/Flex if i could afford it.
Bottom line, if you'r driving 99.9% of the time, get the tein.
If you're at the tracks most of the time, the GC. /or if you love the bumpy ride and the crazy turns?(IMO)
Am i ritE?

also, im thinking i wana get custom spring rates for the GCs, i beleve the stardard rate is 350f/280r. im just not sure what effect differant spring rates will have (i know its harder as they go up but whats too bouncy for a daily driver), and what would be appropriate with my intentions, i dont want a completly brutal ride, but im willing to take some bouncing if it pays off, any help explaining that would be greatly appreaciated. thanks

Shox.com has koni yellows paired up to eibach pro kits for $705 plus shipping
Good stuff. might wanna check them out. Good prices and lots of combos.

my car is a daily driver and I am quite happy with my GCs & Illuminas. Konis are more adjustable and can go stiffer, but for me it was a money thing.
GC Limited Edition are slightly softer springs, I believe. someone correct me if I'm wrong. or, just call Modacar. they sell both and that's where I got my GCs!
by the way, my Ground Controls are standard rate and I don't think the ride is too harsh. my shocks are set full stiff in back [5/5] and the fronts are almost full stiff [4/5].

yea, im leaning towards the GCs and Illuminas myself, because of the price and everything, but im pretty sure i want custom spring rates, im just not sure which would be good for a me, im a pretty aggressive driver sometimes, so it would me nice to have springs that be good for that, yet not kill me on a bumpy highway. and i dont have a clue about what to get....
i'm on Tein SS and i love the ride quality .. but i'm mostly using it for daily driving. its pretty stiff .. and doesn't really dip any on the streets.
i'd recommend Omni's with the 12k/10k rates using Skunk2 camber v2 for camber adjustment if you're looking for a stiffer ride.

How often is your car going to see the track, and what kind of racing do you plan on doing (drag, auto-x,etc). If you are only going to track your car like once a month it doesnt really make sense to get super stiff spring rates on a daily driver. For that kind of scenario I would recommend tein SS, which I use for the street. Even riding w/ them on full stiff, I could see that I would prefer stiffer rates if I was to do road racing...so I am going to move up to a different suspension, because I plan on using my car on the track more than on the street. But for a car that does daily driving and only sees the track once in a while, tein SS is a great setup. The 16 way damping adjustability is great and the ride at full soft is almost like stock.
Both of your adjustable options sound good - either the Tein SS or Koni/GC (with the normal spring rates) will be fine for daily driving.
Either way, if you decide to track the car more and the rates are not working for you, you can buy 2.75 ID (for the Tein) or 2.5 ID (for the GC perches) racing springs in whatever spring rates you want. Although, it's much easier to find 2.5 ID Eibach ERS/Hypercoils/Buddy Club springs for about $70 used per pair in whatever length and spring rate you can think of.

I love the ride with my koni yellows and GC's. Cornering is so bitchen now that I installed ST front sway bar and ST SpeedTech rear sway/tie brace kit!
Set to full soft, makes for a nice daily driver. Handling is just awesome with the koni's set to full firm!

well, yea i wont be going to the track (road race/ autox) that much. so i guess a more tame suspenion would make sense, since someday i can always just get new springs. but im still leaning away from the teins because of price right now, and probably more towards the GCs with regular spring rate, and either konis or tokicos, is there truely any really good reason i should spend so much more on the konis over the illuminas or not????
if you're looking at Koni Yellows w/ GC's .. that is right around the same price as Tein SS .. so it seems like money is less of a concern. honestly, for street use, you'll love the Tein's adjustable dampers. once you find that 'perfect' setting (for what you like), you'd probably be glad you have em. the only advantage i see with the KY/GC setup is that you can get a different spring rate later. with the SS, i think you can go 2k above what comes on them, which would end up being the 10k/8k [ 8k/6k is nominal for the SS ]

well after some more thinking over, probably guna just go with the Tein SSs since i will be spending a lot more time on the street than the track, so it should do just fine. also planing on gettin the beaks itr sway bar kit so that will help when i get to the track.....
