Default heat shields

ok well i was driving down the road yesterday and i heard this really loud clunking noise.. i look under my car and i see half of the cat converter hanging on the ground so i kicked it off.. now every once in awhile ill hear the other half of the heat shield vibrating off of the exhaust.. i plan on gettin a cat back exhaust soon so while im under there puttin it on, would it be safe to just rip the rest of that heat shield off because i no what purpose it serves on the bottom half, so i dont catch fields on firee and **** lol but is there a chance of warpin my floor boards?

only the shields attached to the exhaust not the ones attached to the underside of the car. they serve a purpose

can you paint the heat shields if you use like a 500 degree engine enamel? if you paint the shield below the shifter, will that stick stay cooler on a day of driving?

ripped mine off last year and my car hasn't blown up still.

you don't have to unbolt anything. just take a pair of dykes and cut that **** off.

Yes you could paint it with engine enamel paint, but i really don think itd cut down on heat on the shifter, i think thats just a fact of life that ya just gotta deal with

im being serious. ive seen it done in the engine bay for the header's heat shield. I got a d16y7 with the POS cat IN the header. so below the shifter, is this heat shield. my shifter gets warm after a few hours of driving. will this heat reflective paint help? worked on my Short ram intake. i can drive, then pop the hood and touch it.

keep both hands on the wheel and only touch the shifter when you have to.

try it. you really have so much better control of the car this way.
