nut that came with skunk2 shiftknob won't fit on short shifter
I can spin it 3 or 4 times at most, then it gets stuck, and without the nut the **** doesn't sit straight, what should i do?
and the **** only goes about 4 or 5 turns into it as well, but it fits fine on my stock shifter (as far as the **** is concerned, the nut doesn't fit on that either)

Don't use the nut. Put "red" thread lock which can be purchased at any autoparts store inside the bottom of the shift ****, then tighten the **** as tight as possable to make the numbers straight. Let dry for an hour and it will be super tight. This way it will hold strong and can be removed if needed in the future with a little muscle.

well you could do it those ways...or you could put the nut on first...handscrewed all the way down, then the ****... then, while using a wrench, tighten the nut until the numbers are faced the right way...not too difficult

by the skunk2 short shifter.. i got both.. what a nice feel..took some time getting used to the weight, but i dont miss shifts.. like they say.. feels so positive having they weight behind each throw. but i wish the shifter was shorter..
yeah, I wish the sk2 shifter was shorter too. Um, i have the same problem this dude has. Except, I bought the **** and shifter used and didn't get the nut. So I bought like 3 diff. nuts and it screw around like twice and gets stuck. So I just have it all crooked (the numbers) and can get loose easily. I'll probably try the red thread lock thing.

Everyone Try this, I didnt know so many people had this problem... You dont need locktite or anything to fix it.. Mines on super tight, and wont come loose on a shift but its not held in with anything!
I had the same problem i thought i was the only one...
I just fixed that this weekend actually...
By straight im guessing you say the Gear numbers wont line up like they should face down.
To fix this, i took a demel with a small cutting wheel and slowly cut a little off a time untill it lined up just how i wanted it to... Your cutting trimming the shifter portion btw.. Just a little bit is all you need.
See the shifter is bottoming out with the **** before it gets to your desired place, so start removing material till it gets to where you want it.
Hope this helps

i had this problem with my skunk2 shifter and ****. went through 2 ***** before i figured out it was a coating that skunk2 puts on the shifter and the threads in the ****. you have to wrench the nut on first with a box wrench all the way down then, don't be scared it will go and it won't break.
putting on the **** is a different story, if you have one of those flat rubber grip things that opens jars it will be very helpful in putting the **** on. you kind of have to try to turn it as much as you can then back it out. then keep on repeating this motion till you get it all the way to the bottom of the shifter. what you're doing is kind of grinding the coating they apply inside on the htreads to keep it from rusting.
as far as the nut being crap, i disagree. mines has been on for some time now and no problems. **** hasn't moved once. but maybe thats just me.
