Default CRX and baffled?

Hey CRX (D16A6) dudes, are you running a baffled oil pan?... if so where did you get yours?

I found most baffled oil pans available are for the B-series engines, however I found a couple for the D16s. One from Moroso, but I'm not sure about that since it seems to be listed in and around the street/strip mentality, and the other was this one from Canton: http://www.honda.racenet.net/engine.php
(scroll to the bottom of the page)

Also, being lazy I know, are oil pans like this legal in both IT and HC?

Thanks

Honestly, I'd recommend you just baffle it yourself. Does not require much in the way of work, all you have to do is weld in a couple of peices of sheet metal.

A way to make it less painful is to get another pan off of a spare motor, clean and weld it all up, paint it if need be, etc. so that it is ready to install next time that the car is up in the air.

It's my understanding that they are in legal for IT but I never heard of anyone having oil pickup problems with OEM one.

I think that both the brands you found are good pieces. They are the only two that I have seen for the A6s. I have no direct expereince with either, but have heard good things about the Moroso unit. I have seen one of thier pans for a Neon and it was quite nice.

I do not have one on my car. The only time I ever had the light come on was with the original motor that used a lot of oil. I let it get a little low (less than 1qt) and had the light flicker on me a couple of times. As long as it was topped off, no problems.

When I put in the new motor this year, i did not trust my fate to an idiot light so I put in a proper gauge. I purposely looked at it during different situations and really never saw the pressure drop below 35-40psi at speed.

With the Moroso on the older ones the stitch welding on the underside wasn't enough and they would have a tendanct to leak around the rail. Some people were just having them fully welded on the underside around the rail.

Also http://www.z10eng.com has them

I am not aware of any additional baffling in either of my IT prepped motors. I presume the area around the pickup is sufficient with a decent amout of oil in the system. I have no intention of adding anything to any oil pans (and I have a few of them) and this comes from a guy that nuked a 944S motor at LMS due to an oiling issue (hehe, with the pimpy 360.00 pan baffling from Lindsey/Huntley whomever). I am not saying not to get one, just saying that I have not seen reason to yet on the CRX.

I have never used one in racing the IT cars but am wondering if the cornering forces generated by the 9.50 wide slicks will cause an issue for me with the nes car.

At the SEMA show, I saw a nice looking road racing baffled pan with trap doors for the D16A6 at the Melling booth. I don't know if that List price will hold up in the real world or will get discounted.
