engine coolant and brake fluid
How often should the engine coolant be changed? and brake fluid? I have had my car for about 1 year and have 16k on the odometer. some autox and 1 track event.
If you're doing any track events (autocross or a road course), you should have flushed your brake fluid within the previous six months. If you live in a place where you don't do track events in cold weather months, just flush it every spring and you'll be fine.
Change your coolant as often as the maintenance schedule in your owner's manual tells you to.

If just autoxing, flush brakes every spring (even 1-2 track events/yr) won't matter and change flush coolant every other year. I usually change the timing belt every other year from racing abuse (yet to do a track day either!) and do a complete flush by removing the water pump and running water though the top hose opening.
I also replace the water pump every 4 years and plugs every spring.
YOu my think it sounds extreme. But think back to the old timer (50's-60's cars) that lasted. Simple/cheap maintainance.
